WILL T-MOBILE EVER GET COOL 3G PHONES IN US?

CHIEF asked:
I keep reading where T-Mobile will soon get the Blackberry Curve 8900 before Christmas or in 1st quarter of ‘09. I’ve read this is a 3G phone, then read it wasn’t. When will T-Mobile catch up on offering cool 3G phones in the U.S. like AT&T, Sprint and Verizon?

At the moment, T-Mobile only offers 3G in about 20 markets and they really aren’t rolling it out very fast. They also kind of made a mistake and used odd frequencies for their 3G network so many of the phones made at the moment won’t work on it. They do have a new mobile called the G1 which uses the new Android operating system from Google. It is 3G and a smart phone. I am sure they will get more 3G phones as their 3G network gets bigger.

You do know that T-Mobile G1 is a 3G phone right?

They already have a kick-a$$ 3G phone.
The G1. I own one and it frickin’ rocks.
Yes, they are rolling out their 3G network slowly and deliberately. There’s a reason for that. Other companies upgraded quickly and had major connectivity problems. In the places I have been where T-Mobile has 3G, it’s been rock solid. I work and spend most of my time in the D.C. area, and I’ve been very impressed with the 3G service here.
And my G1 works great on Edge when 3G isn’t available (such as where I live in North Florida).
Plus it has a wi-fi capability, and T-Mobile lets you use their wireless HotSpot locations for free as part of the G1’s data plan.
This thing drips coolness.
